Demnlus Johnson III is a lifelong Richmond resident, former Richmond City Councilmember, and longtime community leader dedicated to bringing people together around practical solutions for the city’s future. First elected as one of the youngest councilmembers in Richmond history, Demnlus has built his leadership around public safety, economic opportunity, neighborhood stability, and investing in Richmond families and youth. Known for his collaborative approach and deep community roots, he is committed to creating a stronger, more united Richmond for the next generation.

Transportation
Improve reliability and frequency of public transit, including AC Transit and BART connections Support bus-only lanes, signal prioritization, and other tools that make transit faster and more efficient Invest in safer streets through traffic calming, better lighting, and protected bike and pedestrian infrastructure Expand transit access in underserved neighborhoods to ensure equitable mobility Promote transit-oriented development near major corridors and stations Address first/last-mile gaps with micro-mobility, shuttles, and safe walking routes Maintain roads responsibly while balancing safety, sustainability, and access

Invest in community-based violence prevention and intervention programs Strengthen partnerships between law enforcement and trusted community organizations Expand reentry services to reduce recidivism and support successful transitions Address root causes of crime through youth employment, education, and mental health services Improve response to mental health crises with trained professionals and alternative response models
